About Big Tree Language

Language that brings generations closer.

Chinese is more than a subject. It is a way to share stories, connect with family and take part in a living culture.

Why we’re here

Keep the connection growing

For families in Sydney, passing Chinese on to the next generation can be difficult. Children may have fewer chances to speak with grandparents, read family stories or use the language outside a weekly lesson.

Big Tree Language was established to help make Chinese a meaningful part of students’ lives, through language foundations, cultural participation and regular practice.

Our educational philosophy

Mastery. Meaning. Momentum.

Mastery

Strong foundations in speaking, listening, reading and writing. Our programs draw on Chinese language frameworks and structured learning activities.

Meaning

Stories, cultural connections and relevant experiences help students understand why language matters to them.

Momentum

Consistent practice and opportunities to use Chinese help learning continue beyond the classroom.

The meaning behind our name

十年樹木,百年樹人

“It takes ten years to grow a tree, but a hundred years to nurture a person.”

Strong foundations take time. Our name, Big Tree Language, reflects our belief in patient growth that continues across generations.

A small step. A lasting connection.

Let’s find a place to start.

Tell us a little about the learner. We’ll help you explore the options.
